Prayers from A Slave

Please remember me &
Honor my soul
Don't make our struggle in vain
Or our pleads grow old
When you think you can't
Remember we did
And as God remembered us
Remember,  you are our kids
Don't let or bloodshed
Be shed in vain
And even as we've been erased
Create us a name
Your history is one of strength, struggle & survival
One no other race in history
Can ever rival
For four hundred plus years
We knew the day would come
When we would not only be seen as equal
But rule all things under the sun
Even as we sleep
In heaven's far away
Remember our oppression
For those children of today
So even if you are not rich
Your history and being is
No other race could create
A world quite like this
It was our strength, and our abilities
Our ethic in what we do
We died, but MORE IMPORTANTLY we fought
For the future that is you
So black people be proud
And honor all things you do
Take advantage of every opportunity
We died so you would
